My Professional Journey
I began my career as a therapist working with major crisis interventions, life crises, life anxiety, and addictions.
I subsequently trained in anthroposophical education (Bachelor's degree), arts therapy (Master's degree), and clinical social work (additional Master's degree). I then continued with specialized training in psychotherapy with a psychoanalytic orientation. In my academic research, I initially focused on complex trauma and childhood sexual abuse, where I discovered the power of transcendent experiences as a potential space for finding meaning in life. I also explored the roles of self-compassion and compassion for others as factors that contribute to resilience. I examined the significance of transformative forces in distinguishing between experiences of loneliness and experiences of solitude.
Currently, I research psychedelic psychotherapy and healing mechanisms within the field of psychological and psychiatric anthropology. I have taught and trained students and staff in trauma intervention and treatment in Japan and China. I have facilitated mindfulness groups in hospitals and residential centers, and initiated the establishment of innovative treatment centers in underserved neighborhoods. Previously, I managed the Arts Therapy Research Laboratory at the University of Haifa's Faculty of Social Welfare and Health Sciences. There, I helped therapists develop and publish unique tools for working with their clients. The laboratory specialized in research and therapeutic work with at-risk children and adolescents who primarily suffered from abuse and neglect, and consequently struggled with deep trauma and attachment wounds.
Over the years, I have accumulated thousands of hours of therapeutic practice across psychiatric hospital units, public clinics, and private practice. I have worked with clients facing a wide spectrum of challenges, ranging from severe psychological conditions (PTSD, complex trauma, schizophrenia, suicidality, eating disorders) to personality and behavioral difficulties (bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder) and mental health struggles stemming from stressful lifestyles, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, or feelings of being stuck and stagnant in life. My systemic social work centers on 'Impulse - Integrative Clinical Center,' a hub for psychotherapy, therapist training, and academic research, where I serve as both Clinical Director and CEO. I am also involved with the "Safe Heart" organization, which provides care for survivors of traumatic events, which I co-founded with many dedicated partners. I currently serve as a board member and Chair of the Clinical Advisory Committee. In my academic research, I focus on psychedelic psychotherapy through the lens of medical, psychological, and psychiatric anthropology.
I currently maintain a private practice in Amsterdam and offer online sessions via Zoom. Clients come to me with diverse needs: life crises, interpersonal and professional relationship difficulties, various couples' challenges, and emotional and mental health disorders. I guide individuals through psychotherapy, couples through couples therapy, and parents through their often challenging parenting journey. Additionally, I accompany clients through psychedelic integration and questions of meaning and direction in life. I supervise therapists, teach in professional and academic training programs, and consult with various organizations, training programs, and research centers in the fields of post-trauma, mental health, and psychedelics.
My Vision Today
I integrate various approaches and philosophies in my work to connect body and mind in a beneficial and holistic manner. Among the teachings I incorporate in my clinical practice are: anthroposophy, Buddhist psychology, Western psychology, and philosophies from Eastern cultures. I see how meaningful success is built when body, mind, and spirit come together in the clinic.
The connection between my systemic knowledge in mental health and Western psychology, and the holistic perspective of body-mind-spirit work, is what makes therapeutic work with me unique and meaningful for many of my clients. I believe that to connect the parts and heal the splits, we must practice experiencing wholeness alongside the sense of emptiness, find additional ways to perceive being and non-being, and turn to compassion to ease our way in the world.
